Volunteers wanted this Friday and Saturday… May 29 and May 30

Public Education is currently being targeted using a program called LifeWise Academy. This program removes students from public school during the school day to receive "Christian Instruction" at nearby churches. They are currently operating in the Reeths Puffer school district.

The LifeWise network of national, state level, and local players points to influence from national conservative organizations with big money such as the Heritage Foundation, Turning Point USA and Project 2025, to name a few.

Legally, LifeWise operates in a gray area based on a Supreme Court case - Zorach V. Clausson (1952) -which allows - but does not require- schools to release students for religious instruction. LifeWise uses this gray area to pressure school districts to actively facilitate the program. This eats up school resources and requires scheduling adjustments and administrative support.

We need your help to push back against this intrusion of our public schools with your participation in any or all of the following events we have currently planned.    

·         Protest at the LifeWise Watch Party on Friday, May 29 from 6 to 7:30 pm at Living Water Bible Church, 460 Wood St., Muskegon MI 49442

Bring a sign supporting our public schools and advocating separation of Church and State. 

LifeWise also has been soliciting parents at youth soccer games.  We want to properly inform parents of the facts.  There are two locations volunteers are needed to hand out anti-LifeWise literature. 

·         Hand out anti-LifeWise literature at White Lake sports complex on Saturday, May 30th from 9am to 2 pm at the White Lake Soccer Complex, 5401 Hancock Rd (corner of Hancock and Whitbeck Rd), Montague, MI 49437

·         Hand out anti-LifeWise literature at Reeths-Puffer Saturday, May 30th from 9am to 2 pm at Central Elementary fields behind playground at 1911 W. Giles Rd, North Muskegon, MI 49445

LifeWise will be participating in the Whitehall July 4th parade.  White Lake Area Futures Democratic Club has invited Indivisible to join them in participating and handing out our anti-LifeWise literature during the parade. This will be in downtown Whitehall on Saturday, July 4th. More details to come.

We are speaking out against LifeWise because we value and support freedom of religion. Our founding fathers purposefully wrote into our constitution the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, which intended to prevent the government (and by extension, public schools) from favoring one religion over others. LifeWise contradicts this right by restricting its teachings to an ultra-conservative Christian ideology.
